Exhibition: Television framing of the 2014 Scottish independence referendum.

University of Stirling, Pathfoot Building.

Admission free

What was the Scottish referendum about? Was it a decision on which option would make Scotts better off and deliver the policies they wanted? Was it a game of strategy and a competition between two opponent camps? Was it a matter of national identity?

This exhibition explores the different frames through which television coverage of the Scottish referendum addressed this question in the run-up to the vote. It is based on an analysis of the final month of the campaign on BBC Scotland and STV, which identified nine frames visualized in the exhibition with snapshots from the coverage.

The research and exhibition are supported by the ESRC Future Research Leaders scheme.
